For the High Holidays (2026)—a season of teshuvah, reflection, and growth—we are launching the symposium “I Changed My Mind,” on intellectual humility in biblical scholarship and beyond.

Over the next year, we will publish a wide range of reflections on what it means to change one’s mind. The essays will explore changes such as:

• A shift in scholarly methodology or a broader academic theory.
• A new understanding of a biblical, rabbinic, or historical issue.
• A change in a religious, ethical, or theological belief or value.

The symposium will explore not only what changed, but how and why. What leads someone to reconsider a position they once held? How do new evidence, more compelling arguments, different ways of framing a question, or recognition of weaknesses in earlier reasoning lead to intellectual change? And what personal or emotional challenges can accompany the process?
