Dr. Juha Pakkala is Docent and Senior University Lecturer in Hebrew Bible at the University of Helsinki. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Helsinki and completed his Habilitation at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München. His research focuses on editorial techniques in the Hebrew Bible, Ezra–Nehemiah, the historical books, and the history of ancient Israelite religion. He is the author of God's Word Omitted (2013); Ezra the Scribe (2004); and Intolerant Monolatry in the Deuteronomistic History (1999). He is co-author of Editorial Techniques in the Hebrew Bible (2022), Evidence of Editing (2014), and Kinneret II. Results of the Excavations at Tell el-ʽOrēme, 1994–2008: Vol. 1 (2024).
